Since I last posted we’ve had a water main that broke. The pipe spewed about 1 million gallons of water before anyone noticed. The indoor and out-door pools are closed. There is no outside watering of any kind (except for the golf course) and we are encouraged to conserve water in our households whenever we can.
Here’s a thought stop watering the golf course. There is no rain in the forecast for the next 10 days and the temps are still low 100’s.
I went to bake dough that I had in my fridge. The recipe says use within 3 days; the author wasn’t kidding. Today is day 4, the dough fell in the bowl and had a disgusting sour smell. Lesson learned. Since I feel like baking anyway I’m going to make biscuits and bread sticks. I don’t like to heat the oven for just one recipe which is why I picked these 2 the oven temperature is very close.
We have been enduring a drought and tripple digit temps for weeks with no relief in sight. The last time I caught the weather we were 5 inches under our total rainfall for the year. The Fourth of July fireworks have been canceled for the most part as 3/4 of Arkansas’s counties are under a burn ban.
I’m going to wait a bit to fire up the oven so it doesn’t warm up the house. My family is trying to do their part to conserve electricity by running our appliances like the dishwasher late at night while we sleep. We don’t water the lawn it’s pointless…here’s the part the pisses me off. We live on the golf course I came home in the middle of the afternoon and they were watering the golf course. Early morning I could understand but at 2 in the afternoon. Apparently there is no common sense at the Property Owner’s Association.
Yesterday was the Summer Solstice or the longest day of the year. YAY that means the days will be getting shorter although in my neck of the woods not any cooler. The weather for Arkansas HOT HOT HOT (mid to upper 90’s) and humid until September then it just gets uncomfortably warm. Did I mention I hate summer….Big resounding sigh. I’m having Winter fever I can’t wait for the cooler weather.
I’ve been rather lax in keeping up with my blog. Here it is in a nutshell…while I’m out of school for the summer I’ve been working full time. I’ve been formally accepted to the university I want to attend (at least for now as we all know the only constant in the unviverse is change.) I’m excited about continuing my education a bit apprehensive at the same time. This is a much bigger school than I’m used to.
I haven’t baked bread lately, but I need to we’ve stoped buying it at the store.
